Brainstorm 2 in 1 Earth and Constellations Globe review

Toy globe on a bedside table - a globe review.

[AD] Once kid’s get a taste for the world around them, a fantastic gift idea is a globe, and one of the more unique globes you may like to consider is a 2 in 1 Earth and Constellations Globe by Brainstorm.

This globe is no ordinary globe, because at night it transforms from a globe with a map of the world on it, to a globe that glows and shows stars and the solar system.

Here’s my review of this globe, if you’re after some more information.

Packaging

The globe arrives with many small bags filled with air, so it’s not damaged whilst in transit, and has many colourful images on the outside of the box explaining the globe’s features.

Features

During the day the globe has a map of the world on it, which also shows rivers, lakes, political boundaries, and major cities, scaled at 1:55,900,000.

At night the globe lights up, showing an illuminated star map, which has key stars, and 88 constellations on it.

To change the globe from the map of the world to the constellations map, all you need to do is push the round button on the base of the globe.

To use the constellations map, the globe needs either a:

  • Micro USB cable connected to a USB port on a computer, or to a USB charger plugged into an electrical socket, or
  • 4 x C 1.5V LR14 batteries

Neither of these are supplied with the globe, they need to be purchased separately.

Size

The globe is approximately 35cm tall.

Recommended age

Brainstorm’s website recommends this globe is for ages 8 to adult.

However, I used this globe when my son was six, and he loved it.

Overall thoughts

This globe is a fantastic addition to my son’s room.

I like that it can be powered by batteries or a USB cable, and that it’s light enough to be moved around easily.

The colours and details on the globe encourage my son to look at it often, and search for countries and cities that he’s learnt about at school.

What’s your child’s favourite way to learn about the world?

Love it? Share it! Thanks!
